Receptor proteins and cancer

Cancer, also known as malignant tumor. It is affected by a variety of factors. Even with the development of medical science, it is still difficult to completely conquer cancer. But a new finding offers hope for patients.
When the receptor protein CD95 is activated along with its ligand CD95L, cancer cells can trigger programmed death or stimulate the growth of tumor cells. The effect of CD95 activation depends on whether the cancer is isolated or complex, according to a new study by scientists at the German cancer research center. When CD95 is activated, individual cells are doomed to die.In contrast, CD95 activation stimulates tumor cell growth in complex cancer cells such as solid tumors. The study opens a new avenue for cancer treatment through activation of receptor proteins." In studying various cancer tissues, we found that CD95 activation normally stimulates tumor growth under natural conditions, for example, in malignant glioblastoma of the brain," said the researchers who led the study. But the researchers explored what factors might make the other side of CD95 work and cause cancer cells to die.
The German cancer research center, in collaboration with researchers at the university of Heidelberg, has developed an artificial cell membrane that can be doped with any number of CD95 ligands. They found that the ligand molecules needed to be spaced apart for CD95 to be optimally activated. When cancer cells from pancreatic cancer or glioblastoma biopsies are placed in petri dishes, CD95 activation actually leads to cell death.Researchers believe they have found a magic cure to kill tumor cells in the body, expanding experiments on brain tumors in mice. When latex beads with the optimal density of CD95 ligands were applied, CD95 activation accelerated tumor growth, contrary to expectations.
"The role of CD95 activation in causing cell death or growth clearly depends largely on whether a single cancer cell or a complex cell is growing in a petri dish," the researchers explained. If a single cell is destined to die.In contrast, CD95 activation is a growth stimulus in complex cells. "The results allowed us to develop new strategies to turn the growth-promoting signal of CD95 into a death signal for cancer cells. In this way, cancer cells are deprived of the opportunity to develop resistance to treatment."
Although there is still a long way to go from experimental to clinical drug development, we believe that one day, through the unremitting efforts of scientists, cancer will finally end.
